A Physio's Journey to Help Kids Grow

For over seven years, I’ve been on a journey that led me from the hallways of a physiotherapy degree to the heart of paediatric therapy.

It was when my eight-month-old son faced a health crisis that brought us to Children’s Hospital at Westmead, I found my true calling in the world of paediatric physiotherapy.

I realised how I could change lives, instilling hope and confidence in parents, just as I had hoped for during that tough time with my son.

Play-Based Therapy

Recognising the significance of play-based, child-centred approaches in paediatric care, I feel a connection to children at a deeper level.

Maybe it’s because I’m a big kid at heart, or perhaps it’s the understanding that movement is fundamental to children’s development.

A Vision for Better Facilities

Four years into my journey as a paediatric physiotherapist, it became clear that I needed more than just a clinical space.

Grow Kids Collective was born from the idea that children should not have to fit into the clinical box; instead, we should adapt to their needs.

I wanted to create a space where children could be themselves, where play and movement were at the core of their therapy.

A space that could accommodate the ambitious goals of the children I worked with—goals like walking, running, riding a bike, or even increasing their time on the soccer or hockey field with their peers.

Parent Turned Advocate

As a parent with a child needing therapy, I understand firsthand the challenges of navigating the complex web of therapies, specialists, and appointments.

The repetitive process of sharing the same story over and over again is frustrating, to say the least.

Watching my own child yearn for movement in non-play-based sessions only reinforced the importance of a space like Grow Kids Collective.

Today, I am dedicated to making a difference in the lives of neurodiverse children and their families.
